‘Special’ Comedy show

Sled Island is very giddy.  We announce!- A Special Sunday Comedy Show and a 3D-HD Talk Show to Kick of the Sled Island Music Festival. A Stand-up comedy show and then the usual Talk Show insanity this time in 3D!!! Featuring Rory Scovel of Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham and very special Guests!!!! $10 includes your own 3D glasses.   The show is June 27th from 8-12am at Broken City, 613 aath ave SW.

FEATURING
Amanda Brooke Perrin:
A ‘virgin’ to stand-up comedy, Amanda decided to challenge herself and finally grab the microphone at an open mic night in 2007. In such short time, Amanda has already performed in various venues around Western Canada, and was also a Finalist in the 2010 Great Canadian Laugh Off in Calgary.
Rory Scovel: 
Mixing his spontaneous creativity and absurd view of the world, Rory Scovel is quickly making a name for himself across North America. Whether discussing drugs, politics, or life in general his infectious stage presence and engaging charisma will quickly shift the vibe of any room and place the audience in the scene of every punchline. Rory has been seen on Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham”
Chris Gordon: 
There is no other comedian today who is providing such a unique, original and innovative approach to comedy and audience interaction as Chris Gordon. He was selected as the “#1 Pick in the Country” on CBC’s “So You Think You’re Funny?” he has performed at the Just For Laughs Festivals in Montreal and Toronto and was featured in the Toronto showcase of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Chris’ style of comedy has been described as “very unusual (as usual) and very funny… it’s what really sets him apart from the pack”. 
Don Wood:
Don Wood is a comedian and writer who tells jokes across the country. He’s performed at Montreal’s Just For Laughs and was nominated for Best Newcomer at the 2007 Canadian Comedy Awards. Born in Halifax, Don Wood now calls Calgary his home where you can find him co-hosting Talk Show Thursday, a monthly variety show at Broken City.
Acapella Fellas:
The A Cappella Fellas have been making music together for 7 years now. From their humble beginnings busking near Eau Claire Market in Calgary, the group is now an on-demand powerhouse, entertaining the masses at corporate events, school assemblies, festivals, and private parties. They have two full-length recorded albums under their belt, and a list of clients a mile long. 2010 is shaping up to be a busy year for the boys!


Talk Show Thursday is the brainchild of The Arbour Lake Sghool, Canada’s pre-eminent practitioners of suburban jerkmanship.   It is stand-up comedy and performance art and craft and self-abuse and  music and hilarious bombing on stage.  I’d say “expect the unexpected,” but if you did that you still wouldn’t get what you’d expect.  Hosted by stand-up comics, staffed by artists of all kinds, Talk Show Thursday (on Sunday) is all the fun of a regular Talk Show with all the shitty Talk Show parts taken out.
