Mayor Nenshi to Introduce Chad VanGaalen at Olympic Plaza!

We’re honoured to have Mayor Naheed Nenshi introduce internationally-renowned local musician Chad VanGaalen at Olympic Plaza on Saturday June 25th. Olympic Plaza is Sled Island’s main outdoor venue and is a fully licensed, all-ages event. 

Sled Island is grateful for the generous support received from the City of Calgary for its 2011 festival, scheduled to go down June 22nd to 25th at 30+ venues throughout the inner core Calgary. Such support allows Sled Island to continue and strengthen its role as a proud champion of arts and culture in the City of Calgary.

At this year’s festival, 213 music acts of all genres from around the world will be performing, with over 145 of those acts originating from Canada, 67 from within Alberta and a remarkable 49 being local to Calgary. This in addition to the film, comedy, and visual art programming running throughout this comprehensive six-day festival make Calgary into a music and art lover’s destination.
