What can I say? My unpatented insta-clone machine still isn’t working despite numerous attempts to re-calibrate the discombobulation engine so it’s another year of only being in one place at a time. That said, I love checking out bands that I don’t know much about. One such band is the SSRI’s. I just heard their new album, Effeminate Godzilla-Sized Windchimes, and instantly fell in love. I’m looking forward to seeing them on stage and getting a taste of them live.

Kallen Law, Local Curator -Custom Schedule Link

For my schedule, I tried to have as much of a variety of local, national, and international bands as possible. There are repeated bands, some because I like the band a lot, some just for insurance in case I miss the band on a certain time they’re playing, so I can catch them another time on my schedule. I’ve come to terms with how, like past years, if I want to catch all the bands I want to see, or even a large majority of them, I won’t be watching many full sets.

Peter Hemminger, Music and Film Editor, FFWD Weekly - Custom Schedule Link

The odds of me actually sticking to this schedule are pretty much non-existent, but there are some highlights I’m hoping to stick to. The sound at Central United is amazing, so seeing Deerhoof there is a necessity. I find it hard to resist venues that don’t usually host shows, so the stoner-rock showcase at the Telus World of Science is pretty irresistible, too. Other than that, I’m going based on gut-wrenching compromises, recommendations from friends (I’ve caught flack for consistently not checking out C’mon’s Ship sets), old favourites (By Divine Right better dip into its back catalogue), a whole lot of MySpace listening, and a willingness to change my plans at the last possible second.
